Technical Manager – Residential Development - Reading, Berkshire
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Manager to join a highly regarded residential developer during a significant phase of expansion in and around the Berkshire area.
This role is ideally suited to a technically strong individual with a background in volume housebuilding, who can lead a team and coordinate all aspects of architectural and technical design across multiple residential projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Technical Director with strategic and operational management across the technical function
• Lead, mentor and manage a team of technical professionals and external consultants
• Oversee the production and coordination of detailed design and working drawings
• Ensure all technical information is delivered accurately and on time to internal teams and external stakeholders
• Provide support across the full project lifecycle—from land appraisal and planning through to construction and post-completion
• Ensure regulatory compliance and drive design efficiency and quality
Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Previous experience in a Technical Manager or Senior Technical Coordinator role within a residential developer or housebuilder
• Strong leadership skills and a track record of managing design teams and consultant outputs
• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a construction-related discipline
• Sound knowledge of planning processes, Building Regulations and technical standards
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
• Full UK driving licence required
